My name is Leo Febus.  I was the foreign exchange student from the Netherlands in the class of 1967.  I stayed at the North Shore of Green Lake in the home of the Otto Berkeland family.  I had a great year at NLS and still have very good memories about my stay in Minnesota.  My "American brothers" were Ron Berkeland (class of '67) and Donn Berkeland (class of '75). Since my high school year in New London, I came back several times to the  U.S.  I attended among other things the reunion of the class of '67 in 1992.

 I work as a sector manager for the city of Schoonhoven, a town of 12,000 inhabitants between Utrecht and Rotterdam.  Financial aid programs, provisions for handicapped, schools, daycare centers, municipal swimming pool, birth-, marriage, and death certificates, elections, it all belongs to the sector I am  responsible for.  I have a temporary second job in another sector, where I am the interim-head of a department that deals with building permits an environment.  So you may say that I am a busy man.  Sometimes too busy. 

Herma, my wife, works in the homecare business.  She can be called on duty  when somebody is not able to come.  The organization she works for has quite a few workers and almost always some people report being ill and then Herma fills up the schedule so that the patient who needs care gets it on time.

I have 2 sons.  My eldest son, Guido, is in his last year of the University of Rotterdam.  He specializes in law school on taxes.  Just like his father he spend some time in the U.S. as a student.  He took classes in Florida where he attended a semester on Florida State University in Tallahassee.  He learned a lot, especially juridical English language, business associations, state law of Florida and constitutional law.  My youngest son, Tristan, is attending a vocational school in Gouda (the city of the cheese!).  He is majoring in Banking and Assurances and is in her last year.  If he succeeds in this year, he wants to continue in the same field in a college school.

So far my little note.  Who knows? We might meet again.

I worked at a Roadside Assistance company for 13 years, and currently manage a Customer Service department for Sage Publications. We publish college level textbooks under the Sage name, as well as publishing K-12 teacher development titles under Corwin Press.

Here it is May 2007, and it's hard to believe that 25 years ago this spring, our Class of 1982 was planning for graduation!  I'm posting this to make sure our classmates know about our 25th Year Class Reunion.  Ruth deCathelineau McDonnell, Kari Anderson-Halbur, and I are planning this shin-dig and are looking forward to seeing you.  The reunion dinner, program, and entertainment starts at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4th at the Spicer Legion.  Click on the "Upcoming Reunions" link above for details. "I live in Los Angeles, California with my husband of 2 1/2 years (John) and my 15 month old Lily!  I have been a triathlon coach with Team In Training for 4 years and with Triathletix for 4 years.   John is an avid golfer and a physical therapist.  My husband is the strength and condition coach for El Camino Jr. College.  I competed in an Ironman triathlon 3 years ago, did a 1/2 Ironman triathlon 3 months after Lily was born, and completed my 5th marathon in Alaska this past June.  We put our house on the market and are looking to get out of LA- too expensive, crazy and not the place we want to raise kids!  No idea where to go, although I would love to return to New London- not sure my So. Cal. native husband would be up for the winters though!  I am on the church counsel at Hope Lutheran Church in Hollywood where I also co- teach confirmation."

I got married last year to my wonderful  wife, Doerthe, whom I had been dating for 10 years. (so it was about time to marry, I guess ;) Professionally I completed my (German equivalent to) MBA in 1997 and have been a self-employed real estate broker ever since. As of 2-1-2006 I also work as CFO for my father-in-law’s company (production of plastic pipes). So really, there has not been time for children yet!

We are finally back in the Willmar area, which is wonderful for our family.  We have lived in St. Cloud, Fargo, Paynesville, Detroit Lakes, and took the big leap to Philadelphia for a few years.  I am married to Chad (an awesome man) and have four great children, Taylor-11, Ashetin-10, Alisandra-7 and Emmariah-6.  I also am privileges to be able to stay at home with them and am home-schooling my kindergartener and 2nd grader this year.  Our other two children are at community christen school.  We attend the evangelical free church in Willmar and if any of you are looking for a church home or family this is a wonderful place.  Life is defiantly not what I expected when I graduated but yet it is so much more than I could have dreamed of. After graduating from the UM-Mpls with a double major in Spanish/Portuguese and Chicano Studies, I decided to move to Mexico to do my Masters.  I attended the Universidad de las Americas-Puebla and graduated with a degree in "Anthropological Studies of Mexico" in 2000.  I lived in Cholula, Puebla (home of the world's largest pyramid-only 3 blocks from my home) for over six years and taught 4th Grade English and piano.  I recently returned to Minnesota and am currently working at the UM-Mpls in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health.  Getting used to the weather is a challenge!

Hello everyone. I am living in Haninge just outside Stockholm with my
wife, Ylva, and our son Arvid (almost 2). After getting back to Sweden
and finishing high school here as well I did my military service. After
this I worked for a while and then went to the university to study cell
biology. I started my postgraduate studies in 2004 with focus on
"Dynamical processes at the nuclear pore" and am still at it (it’s a 5
year thing in Sweden). Ylva and I met during our undergraduate studies
in cell biology in 2001 and got married this summer. Ylva is working as
a "food and environmental health inspector" (the best translation I
could manage) in Strängnäs an idyllic little town close by we are
planning to move in the near future.

After living in Minneapolis for 7 years, I moved to Chicago, then Washington, D.C., before ending up on the Atlantic here, with its sandy beaches and countless golf courses. I'm a reporter for The Island Packet newspaper. I write about health and the environment. It's very enjoyable. Joey is a teacher for the local elementary school, helping children speak English, Spanish and French. Hello Classmates! It is fun to hear what everyone is up to. Troy and I feel like these past 10 years have flown by.  We have been married for five years.  We have lived in Sioux Falls, SD, for one year, the cities for two years, and now back in Spicer for almost two years now.  We enjoy being back in the area, especially because our parents are nearby to help us with our little ones.  We have a 3 1/2 year old daughter, Taylor, an 18 month old son, Luke, and #3 is on the way at the beginning of May (yikes!) Troy works as a mechanical engineer in Spicer and I work part time as a nurse at Kandiyohi County Public Health.  We look forward to catching up in July.

Hi everyone! Sorry that I missed the class reunion last summer. I was in Chicago with my boyfriend Rich Vander Weyst. Well, a lot has changed since high school. I received my AA degree from Ridgewater and transferred to Minnesota State University, Mankato where I double majored in Social Work and Psychology. I graduated in 2001 with my Bachelor’s degree from MSU. I went on to get my Master’s in Counseling at MSU-Mankato and graduated in 2005. In the summer of 2005 I started working toward my doctorate at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. I will finish classes this May and will be off to Chicago to complete my one year internship and then I will be a Licensed Psychologist. I will finish my doctorate in May of 2009. I am not married but I have a wonderful boyfriend of 2 ½ years. We are very happy together. I also do not have any children. I hope everyone is doing well! Take care!

Yes, we did things a little backwards! After getting my Associate's degree from Ridgewater, I went on to a couple of other colleges and couldn't decide what I wanted to do. So... I decided to go to work. I went from being a Brokerage Investment Assistant at a bank, to a 9-1-1 Dispatcher for Kandiyohi, to a Traffic Coordinator and Transportation Supervisor at Jennie-O Corporate office, to where I am now, which is a Dispatcher and Operations Manager for a trucking company in Willmar. I plan to go back to college in the near future. For what? Still deciding, but narrowing it down. :o)

After high school I jumped into construction, mainly around here but worked and lived in St. Cloud for 1 year as Staci was working at the State College at that time. We have been back in New London for 5 years and have since built a house that we live in now. 3 years ago I bought West Central Insulation, a company that I had indirectly and directly worked for for a long time. We have a one year old boy. We named him Logan. Was kind of bitter sweet. My mom died (cancer)three months before he was born. Other than that life has been good and I feel blessed to have my son and wife in my life. Enough of the mushy stuff. I went to college, got a two year degree in Law Enforcement. Couldn't find a job around here. It's tough in the rural areas. Working for BNSF Railway now and I like it. Joshua took a job in April at Donahue and Associates in Willmar as a Civil Engineer otherwise he had worked in St. Cloud at WSB and Associates. We plan to move to the NL-S area within the next couple of years so we can be closer to our family,  friends, and also so our kids can go to NL-S schools like we did.
