New London-Spicer Early Childhood programs have
been awarded a part-time MN Reading Corps grant position for the
2012-2013 school year. This position will be located at Prairie
Meadows in Spicer and will be for a period of 11 months, August
2012 through June 2013. It is a 20 hour per week position,
working in a preschool classroom to help children develop early
literacy skills in preparation for Kindergarten. Potential
candidates do not need a teaching degree to be considered.
Qualifications: Strong interest in education, specifically
helping young children develop early literacy skills, experience
working with young children, ability to navigate and use online
database systems and e-mail, responsible, organized, flexible,
motivated, professional, excellent oral and written
communication skills. Preferred: College course work, college
degree, or equivalent work experience in a setting with young
children. The individual selected to fill this position would
earn a bi-weekly living allowance of $250 and an education
award.
